Unless you’ve seen it in person, it’s almost impossible to fully comprehend how large the 797F mining truck by Caterpillar really is.

Introduced in 2008 at MINExpo International, the 797F is currently the largest haul truck in the world measuring in at 21-feet tall, 48-feet in length and weighing more than 687 tons. The mining truck has a payload capacity of 400 tons and is equipped with 117-liter, V-24, quad-turbo diesel engine.

Because of the sheer size of the Cat 797 mining truck, the massive piece of machinery has to be assembled onsite. Watch how Caterpillar does it--from manufacturing to assembling.
