A diamond is forever but in reality, the process is what takes forever. 

The following infographic breaks down how these precious minerals are formed, details their respective characteristics, and outlines how they're mined as well as how they're marketed. 

Despite falling commodity prices from gold and iron ore, diamonds continue to sparkle. The infographic showcases the value these tiny crystals present to the world and how important their impact is on the industry.

“Diamonds have been one of the stronger performing commodities from a pricing perspective. Investors have felt that with the growing economic recovery it is a good part of the mining market to be in," Edward Sterck, an analyst at BMO Capital Markets, said.
