International Women in Mining launches mentorship programme at PDAC

An international mentorship programme, connecting women in mining to mentors from all over the global industry, has officially been launched at the world’s biggest mining conference.

The first International Women in Resources Mentorship Programme (IWRMP), a response to the need for more industry mentoring, was launched by the International Women in Mining, Women in Mining Canada and Metisphere at the PDAC convention in Toronto this week.

Lasting for six months, the programme will see 42 women from Africa, North and South America, Europe, Australia and Asia all at different stages of their careers.

Providing them with a structured and sustainable mentoring process, the women will be empowered and will see their career prospects enhanced throughout the international resources sector.

Steering Committee Leads, Barbara Dischinger (IWiM), Cynthia Le Sueur-Aquin (WIM Canada), and Ali Burston (Metisphere) said the programme uses tried and tested methodology, which has already resulted in enormous success in many Australian states.

“We are excited that women around the globe have the opportunity to learn and receive career guidance from a mentor who is fully invested in their career,” Ms Dischinger said. Following the launch, programme participants will follow a bespoke solutions-focused framework with regular global webinars and support mechanisms with their mentors to produce meaningful and inspiring outcomes.
