Barrick Gold appoints Silicon Valley executive to lead digital transformation strategy
One of the world’s leading gold producers has elected a new independent director, as it continues its journey through an aggressive digital transformation.
Barrick Gold this week announced that it had nominated Patricia A. Hatter for election as a new independent director.
A seasoned Silicon Valley executive, Hatter brings with her significant experience in technology and digital transformation.
Hatter currently advises technology companies on product and go-to-market strategies in sectors covering cybersecurity, IT service management, and blockchain applications.
As a director of Barrick, she will apply her skills and expertise to help guide the Company’s digital transformation, and the implementation of new technologies.
In 2017, Barrick partnered with Cisco to embark on an ambitious digital transformation journey, reimagining mining process with digital technology for better decisions, efficiency and cost savings.

Through the company’s Cortez Gold Mine in Nevada, Barrick is working closely with Cisco to truly explore the capabilities of technology and digital in the mine site.
As the company said itself, to “unlock the potential of this data and build a more collaborative, connected organization, Barrick is reinventing its operations with digital solutions from Cisco.”
Cisco has implemented wireless and collaboration solutions, innovative Wi-fi connectivity, as well as a complete analytics hub in order to truly redefine mining for Barrick.
