Looking for a job in the mining sector? Becoming a metallurgist could be your ticket to a long and lucrative career.

A Metallugrist is an engineer that specializes in the extraction and processing of various metals. They typically work at mineral processing sites and concentrate in either primary (extractive) or (physical) metallurgy. They assist mining companies in a wide range of categories from applying methods for extracting minerals from their ores, improving process methods, developing and controlling methods of storing and treating waste material, and preparing technical reports.

A metallurgist straight out of school can earn roughly $50,000 to $90,000 per year. The salary scale skyrockets for senior metallurgist as they make close to $220,000 a year. The more experience you have, the more money companies will pay.
