The mining industry’s title of richest person belongs to Alberto Bailleres Gonzalez with a net worth of $18.2 billion. As owner of Grupo Bal, Gonzalez owns a 69 percent stake in Industrias Peñoles, the second most important mining company in Mexico. He also owns Fresnillo, the world’s largest primary silver mining company and a number of other silver and gold mines in Latin America. Additional investments for the billionaire include El Palacio de Hierro, one of the largest chains of department stores in Mexico. Alberto Bailleres Gonzalez is currently the second richest man in Mexico.
