Endeavour Mining Corporation has announced the commencement of production at its Segala underground mine in Mali.

The ASX-and TSX-listed gold miner reported the first ore production from the first stope in the Segala mine on June 22. The company will continue to ramp up ore being hauled in the upcoming months.

"Segala provides the Tabakoto plant with another source of higher grade ore.  Add to that the commencement of owner mining at the Tabakoto underground mine and we are well on the way to finishing the production improvement program that we set in motion a year ago when we doubled the plant capacity, said Neil Woodyer, CEO of Endeavour Mining Corporation.

Ore from the Segala mine is transported to the Tabakoto plant and then process through a 4,000 t/d plant, with gold being recovered through a standard, gravity, carbon-in-leach process.

Segala represents around half of the mineral resources for the Tabakoto mine.

The company has also announced the mining permit for Kofi Nord, which covers all eight of the known deposits on the Kofi property, has been received.

“We also recently received the mining permit for the Kofi Nord property which gives us an additional feed from the Kofi C deposit.  The Kofi Nord property is currently known to host eight deposits, so we see significant potential for this property to be a long-term feed source for our Tabakoto mill," said Woodyer.

Production on the Kofi property is scheduled for 2015.

Endeavour Mining is a gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. The company operates four projects producing more than 400,000 ounces per year in Mali, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Côte d'Ivoire.
