Mining is big business and Glencore absolutely dominates the industry. The company’s revenue for 2013 was an astronomical $200 billion from industrial and marketing activities in its metals and minerals, coal and oil segments.

The commodities trader, which recently merged with Xstrata, holds over 150 mining and metallurgical sites around the globe. Base metals such as copper, nickel, zinc/lead, alloys, aluminium and iron ore accounted for over $64 billion of the company’s revenue in 2013.
