Caterpillar drives forward sustainable mining automation

Leading global manufacturer Caterpillar is focused on bringing sustainability to the mining sector as it innovates automation in industry operations

MINExpo 2021 looks to be a feast of much needed environmental innovation for a sector that needs to transform its approach to sustainability. Companies from around the world are attending the event to showcase their bid to become buyers and suppliers of the industry’s breakthrough technological solutions, promising streamlined services and automation that brings with it efficiency and increased productivity. But most notable, perhaps, is Caterpillar and its contribution to the mining sector’s sustainable future.

The mining industry prioritises innovation to accelerate sector sustainability

With safety, sustainability, and up-to-date technology firmly in mind when developing its new architecture, Caterpillar’s domineering 55,000ft2 exhibit displays all of its various products, equipment, and groundbreaking machinery for the world’s leading miners to peruse.

Flaunting its ideology, “Together, we’re mining better,” Caterpillar is keen to acknowledge the success of its ongoing collaborations within the industry and joint ventures into achieving a brighter and more sustainability-focused future.

"We look forward to sharing Caterpillar's latest mining products and services portfolio with our customers,” says Jim Umpleby, Chairman and CEO at Caterpillar. “Our advancements extend from equipment, technology and services to helping customers mine more safely and sustainably.

"We're committed to providing the solutions to help our customers achieve their climate-related objectives while meeting their requirements for performance, durability and economic value."

Caterpillar is eager to steer its partners in the right direction

Denise Johnson, Group President with responsibility for Resource Industries at Caterpillar, reaffirms the need for mining companies to adopt essential innovation in order to make a change.

"To deliver on their sustainability commitments will require miners to make significant changes to mine infrastructure and operations.

"Caterpillar has an integrated portfolio of machines, services and technologies, that support end-to-end sustainable solutions for our customers."

The Las Vegas show held in Nevada is taking place from Monday, September 13 until Wednesday, September 15, 2021. It’s available to attend via Caterpillar’s digital online experience at cat.com/mining.
