The event will bring together an exhibition area, a space for technical paper presentation and a conference. The integration of senior executives, mining professionals, and scholars, as well as important Brazilian and international investors will enable an extensive exchange of information concerning the mining sector.

The World Mining Congress (WMC), which is held every three years, under a Secretariat leadership associated to the United Nations, has the objective to promote and support scientific and technical co-operation, for national and International progress in the fields of mining and the development of natural mineral resources; to implement a world-wide exchange of information with respect to mining science, technology, economics, occupational health and safety aspects of mining operations, and environmental protection.

In 2012, Brazil received the mission to promote the WMC during the 92nd meeting of the International Organizing Committee (IOC), responsible for the event.  IBRAM was held responsible in defending the Brazilian candidacy after articulations with the Brazilian government, sector entities and mining companies.

2013 WMC

The last edition was held in Montreal, Canada in 2013.  The McGill University with the participation of Canada’s major universities organized the event. The 2013 WMC was held together with the 2013 ISARC – International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in the Construction and Mining Industries.
