Eike Batista has made a fortune in mining and oil and gas exploration. Batista is chairman of EBX Group, which includes five companies: OGX (oil and gas), MPX (energy), LLX (logistics), MMX (mining) and OSX (offshore services and equipment). In 2012, Batista sold a 5.6 percent stake in his umbrella EXB Group to Abu Dhabi government investment fund Mubadala for $2 billion, and 0.8 percent stake in his EBX to General Electric for $300 million. Once Brazil’s richest man, Eike Batista lost his title as prices plummeted on five of his six publicly-traded holdings in 2013.
